What it looks for

Whether a male dog has two apparently normal testicles, both fully descended into the scrotum. The FCI standard for the Cairn Terrier states it under N.B.: "Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum."

Why it matters

The standard states that male dogs should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum. It is worded as should, not must, and the standard's own list of disqualifying faults does not include it — that disqualification comes from the FCI show regulations, a different document. The same N.B. adds: "Only functionally and clinically healthy dogs, with breed typical conformation, should be used for breeding."
