Breeding conditions

  • Ordinary ROI registration is NOT gated on health. Riproduzione selezionata is a voluntary tier above it, with criteria set by the breed clubs - the third instance of this shape after Denmark Basis Plus and the French cotation.
  • Conformation: 1 eccellente in speciale or raduno, males and females alike, and the grade counts only from the 18th month.
  • A working or aptitude test is required: Molto Buono in a prova in tana or sopraterra, or a passed TAN. Italy is the only country in this document asking this for the breed.
  • A biological sample deposit is mandatory for every dog applying to the selected register.
  • Small-population rule: for breeds registering under 100 puppies a year, puppies need four different grandparents and the conformation minimum drops to Molto Buono. UNVERIFIED whether the Cairn falls under it in Italy - if it does, the "1 eccellente" figure is not the operative one.
  • Puppies from two parents both graded hip dysplasia C cannot be certified as offspring of selected parents, where grade C is admitted at all.

Read this first

  • Read via a third-party copy: ENCI and Fondazione Salute Animale both return HTTP 403, so the document read was the Club Italiano Lagotto Romagnolo copy. Content is the official ENCI list; the copy is third-party and dated 3 June 2020. Re-check against ENCI before treating a threshold as current.
  • There is no "SAICT". The breed club is the Società Italiana Terriers.
  • ENCI names its accepted laboratories - VEtoGene, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, L.G.S., NGB Genetics, GENEFAST, UNIRELAB, Università di Pisa, Erediti. Embark is not among them: a fourth distinct mechanism excluding it.

    Pedigrees

Searchable by name, registration number or microchip for dogs registered from 1995. Free registration is required and it asks for an Italian tax code, which is a real obstacle from outside Italy. Pedigree and registration data only — the page names no health results or show results.

Requirements are shown in the language they were published in. Translating a regulation risks changing it. This reports what clubs published, with the date each source was read. It is not approval to breed — confirm with the club before you rely on it. (Checked: 8 August 2026)
